What systems will EPR replace?
The new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) is being built for three acute hospitals across Norfolk and Waveney — Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), James Paget University Hospitals (JPUH) and Norfolk & Norwich University Hospitals (NNUH).
At Go-Live, the EPR will replace 91 digital systems across the three trusts. A further 19 systems are currently under review, which would bring the total to 110.
These systems cover everything from emergency department tracking and medicines prescribing to maternity records and theatre scheduling. Many are trust-specific, built or configured for individual hospitals over many years. Replacing them with a single shared record is one of the most significant changes the programme will deliver.
