When you come to one of our hospitals, the teams involved in your care use information about your health to make decisions and plan your treatment.

Today, some of that information can sit in different places – across paper notes and systems that do not connect to each other. Our teams do a good job of bringing this together to offer patients the best care possible. The EPR makes this process quicker and easier.

What this means for you

The people treating you will have a more complete picture of your health and care, available where and when they need it. If you have visited one of our hospitals before, your history will be there. If you are treated at more than one of our hospitals, your care teams at each site will be able to see the same record.

You are less likely to be asked to repeat information you have already given.

A small number services will continue to use specialist systems alongside the EPR. Where that happens, in some cases information will flow between those systems and the EPR.
Your information in the EPR is secure. It is accessible only to those staff with a legitimate reason to see it.

  • “I see different people in the hospital for my health - it's good to know they will all have access to my medical records and can see the same information.”
