Wondering what the EPR means for you, your team or your patients?

These are the questions staff are asking us most often. We will continue to add to these questions in the coming months. Use the search box or scroll down to see the most common questions and answers.  If your question isn’t answered here, then get in touch.

  • Is thromboprophylaxis risk assessment built in EPR?

    Yes

  • When the doctors clinics are generated will there be admin review before sending, for those drs who do not yet understand admin processes?

There will be administrators involved in booking and scheduling. The referral pathways will be tested against future state workflows to ensure clinical safety requirements are met.

  • Will the EPR system prompt a resus status before any procedures happen?

Resus status will be entered or verified at point of entry and will be visible in a prominent place when the patient is selected or on the patient care status boards. Respect forms remain on paper.

  • Will bank staff be trained to work in other areas, for example gynae ward clerks who also work in opthamology?

Your training will be in line with your roles on ESR. If you have multiple roles you will have an extended 'catalogue' of training and you will which role each module is required for. When you receive your training info you will be able to discuss adding additional modules, if needed, with the training team.

  • How does urine analysis during pregnancy show in our EPR?

There will be fields where POCT results can be added.

  • Has frailty and cognitive screening been created in our EPR?

Yes, this is in the clerking sections in PDOCs.

  • Wil there be a route in the EPR for ICE referrals that are external?

    Yes.

  • Will PAS alerts automatically transfer to our EPR?

No, the data team is compiling the essential migration of PAS alerts.

  • What is the plan to integrate EPR into med school and PGME simulation teaching?

Students will be offered the same training as their qualified counterparts ahead of starting placements. RBAC (role-based access control) will limit their access to these elements until they qualify.

  • Will there be a scanner on the wards for scanning paper?

Yes where the workflows require one, otherwise the existing process of sending notes to be scanned externally remains in place.

  • How will patient handover for nursing and admin work in the EPR?

There will be an electronic handover function in our EPR and this will be covered in training.

  • How does EPR impact disclosure obligations?

Any existing permissions that requires access to records will remain, the process will be via our MEDITECH EPR. There are print and export capabilities in our EPR.
