This demo shows how the EPR displays nursing information, including alerts and indicators. Staff will access different areas within our EPR depending on their role and it will support nurses in managing and documenting patient care.
Watch: the nursing care demo
The nursing worklist in the EPR brings together assessments, interventions and other care activities, showing what is due, completed or scheduled. Standards of care can automatically generate appropriate assessments and interventions for different patient groups.
Structured assessments such as NEWS2 and MUST can automatically calculate scores and, where appropriate, trigger further actions. For example, a high nutritional risk could lead to a care plan, food chart, nutritional interventions and a dietitian referral being added to the worklist.
Completed and partially completed care is recorded in the EPR, creating a shared history that authorised staff can review across shifts and clinical teams.
Overall, the worklist is more than a task list. It connects assessment, care planning, interventions, documentation and ongoing review, helping staff share information, reduce duplication and improve oversight of patient care.
Note: because of a technical problem during recording, the introduction and round-up are missing from this video. The key points are included below.
Key points
- Patient care status board: Gives a live view of patients on your ward, or another relevant patient group, with useful alerts and indicators.
- Nursing worklist: Brings care activities together in one place.
- Standards of care: Automatically generate appropriate assessments and interventions for different patient groups or clinical areas.
- Structured assessments: Calculate scores automatically and trigger actions.
- Follow-on care: Assessment results can trigger further care, such as interventions, food charts or referrals.
- Less duplicate entry: Previous information can be recalled, so you do not need to enter it again.
- Shared record: Completed care is recorded in the patient’s EPR, so authorised members of the wider clinical team can see it.
- Role-based access: You see the areas relevant to your role, and the system is intended to improve visibility across teams.
