One record for all of our hospitals – that’s one of the biggest changes that admin teams will see.

Data captured at registration or booking will flow through the patient’s record, rather than being entered again at each step or each site. Appointment slots, clinic lists, bed and pathway status will be visible across the Group, making cross-site booking and coordination easier. And no more chasing paper folders between departments, or waiting for records to be transported between sites.

A big part of the work already under way is data cleansing, reducing duplicate patient records and mismatched details, so the record each team works from is accurate from day one. Shared workflows will also replace the three different local ways NNUH, JPUH and QEHKL currently handle the same clerical task.

Every booking, amendment or access will leave a clear digital trail, supporting information governance and safeguarding.

As with any major change, there’ll be a settling-in period around go-live. Processes may run slower to begin with while everyone gets used to new ways of working, and role-specific training and hands-on support will be there to help.
